She recently graduated Western Washington University where she studied Communications. She was recently promoted to Recreation Coordinator where she started running the Adapted Aquatics program. She has been working in pools and with people with disabilities since she was 16 and is excited to run her own program. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, running, hiking, and playing video games. David Tovar Park Technician – Facilities David is originally from Southern California. He and his family moved to Bellingham in January 2023 after a road trip to this area. David says the best part of being a Park Technician is supporting the goals of the Parks & Rec Department while serving his community. He spends his free time exploring the city with his wife, their son, and their two dogs. Kris Posedel Park Worker – Grounds Kris moved to Bellingham this past summer (June 2024) from Chicago. Prior to working with the City he had a brief stint with the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, targeting invasive species in and around the Skagit estuary. In Chicago Kris was a project manager for an ecological restoration company, working to improve the health of prairies, woodlands, and wetlands throughout the Chicago land area. In his free time he loves learning about native plants and natural history, reading books, and finding new hikes. Kris has enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the City's parks and keep them looking great. Greg St. Pierre Park Technician – Grounds Greg grew up in Bellingham jumping off the dive docks at Bloedel Donovan, so he's happy that park is one of his responsibilities as a Grounds Tech. He skied competitively on the US Junior Olympic development team and played golf in high school and college. He graduated from WSU with a degree in Environmental Science and Turf Management, and after graduating moved to the East Bay in CA where he worked for a city's parks department for 15 years. While working, he went back to school at CAL State Hayward where he attended night classes to obtain his master's degree in Public Administration. Greg loves to launch his boat at Cherry Point for crabbing and Lake Terrell for fishing. David Gorski Park Technician – Facilities David grew up in Leavenworth, WA and graduated from WWU with a degree in Philosophy and a minor in Environmental Studies. His previous work experience covers a wide range of outdoor recreation jobs: multiple positions at ski areas, four seasons operating snowcats at Stevens Pass, seven seasons guiding rafts on various Washington rivers, and multiple other trades in the shoulder seasons. He enjoys salmon fishing, skiing, and whitewater rafting. Staff Spotlights
