Park Operations staff have been working hard over the Summer to maintain all the parks, trails, and Bayview Cemetery while making some significant improvements and repairs along the way. Our staff takes great pride and satisfaction in their work and it shows! Some of our notable accomplishments include: • Repaired, resurfaced, and restriped the Fairhaven Park tennis courts. • Designed and installed a new shower room at Lake Padden Park. • Completed flooring, electrical, heating, and plumbing upgrades to the log cabin at Van Wyck Park. • Completed several miles of trail resurfacing. • Restored turf damage that occurred over the winter/spring months at Bloedel Donovan Park. • Coordinated 19 volunteer work parties which were attended by 789 volunteers resulting in 2,334 cumulative hours stewarding our parks. • Started construction and repair of fencing at Woodstock Farm to protect sensitive areas. • Refinished several park benches throughout the system. • Installed new signage, garbage cans and dog waste stations at selected trailheads in the 100 Acre Woods of Fairhaven Park. • Investigated water intrusion into the Fairhaven Village Green Restrooms. • Installed interpretive panels commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Pipeline Explosion at Whatcom Falls Park. • Completed several repairs to pavement and roads within Bayview Cemetery. • Trained staff in Verbal Judo De-escalation techniques. • Completed paving and curbing repairs at several park locations including restriping parking lots and sports courts. • Installed covered hydraulic lift as well as completed several energy efficient upgrades in the Lake Padden Golf Course mechanic's shop.
