FALL PLAYBOOK 2024 | BELLINGHAM PARKS & RECREATION Family/Community Events 10 DAY/DATES/INSTRUCTORS: Fridays, Session 1: Sept. 20 with Ruby Session 2: Oct. 4 with Everitt Session 3: Nov. 15 with Kristi Session 4: Dec. 6 with Ruby TIME: 5:30–6:30 pm AGES: All (recommended for ages 6+) LOCATION: TBD COST: $10 each session MIN: 5 / MAX: Dependent upon location Sound Therapy Bring a blanket and yoga mat and enjoy soothing sound vibrations of Himalayan singing bowls, gongs, and bells for deep relaxation. Sessions are hosted by either Everitt Allen of Sound Therapy of the Pacific Northwest, Kristi Moseley of Mystic Heart, or Ruby Koa of Inspire Yoga. Pre-registration is required for all sessions. In this four-week class Bo Bestvina, of Flow Music Lessons, will teach the essential chords and strumming patterns to play some classics like Somewhere Over the Rainbow or modern songs from artists such as Taylor Swift. No past ukulele experience is necessary! Intro to Scottish Dancing Workshops Scottish Country Dancing is the social dancing of Scotland without any of the competitive aspects of Highland dancing. It has a long, history and is a the root influence for US folk dancing. Everyone is welcome to come learn the basics at these free workshops and enjoy the lively and traditional music of Scotland. No need for a partner or special shoes (dance slippers or flat soled shoes are recommended). Come to one or all! Session 2: Wednesday, Oct. 9: The Shape of the Set, Most common dances including longwise sets, circles, square sets and round the room. Session 3: Wednesday, Nov. 13: Figuring out the Figures, Basic figures that make up various dances including reels, turns, rights and lefts, hands across and more. Session 4: Wednesday, Dec. 11: Let's Have a Ceilidh! Pronounced "Kay Lee" it's the Scottish version of a party. We'll focus on the joy of dancing.
