FALL PLAYBOOK 2024 | BELLINGHAM PARKS & RECREATION Family/Community Events 14 Belly Dance with Whimsy Explore belly dancing through a cabaret lens! Learn about the cultural roots of belly dance and cabaret. Undulate and roll your body to fun music. You'll leave the class with a video of your performance. This cabaret-style belly dance workshop is led by long-time performer Layla Jasper, stage name Whimsy, who is passionate about inspiring the confidence to embrace more whimsy through dance! No dance experience needed and open to all genders. Wear clothing that you feel comfortable moving in. Sign up for one or both sessions, each will feature different choreography! Buried Belling–history: A Virtual Tour of Bayview Cemetery Kolby LaBree of the Good Time Girls Bellinghistory Tours will lead you on a virtual tour featuring some of the fascinating history of Bayview Cemetery including filmed footage and historical photographs. Founded in 1887, Bayview Cemetery is the only remaining cemetery in Bellingham. You will learn how it has grown and discover some of the history of its most interesting monuments. Question and answer session included! DAY/DATE: Wednesday, Nov. 20 TIME: 7:00–8:00 pm AGES: PG (themes of death) LOCATION: Online. Your receipt will have the Zoom link and password. COST: $10 per device COORDINATOR: Rosa Caldwell / Kolby LaBree MIN: 5 / MAX: 50 DAY/DATES: Mondays, Oct. 7 or Nov. 4 TIME: 6:00-7:30 pm AGES: 18 years and older LOCATION: Cordata Park Pavilion COST: $30 each session COORDINATOR: Rosa Caldwell/Layla Jasper MIN: 6 / MAX: 20 Rec–tivities: Family Activity Kits Enjoy creating artful crafts and activities for the whole family from the comfort of home! Sign up for a seasonally themed kit containing supplies, instructions, interactive ideas and lots of inspiration for you to create fun projects and memories together. Kits will be available for pick up beginning the first Friday of each month. Please note: some simple household items may be required to complete all projects. Deadline to register: Wednesday prior to pick up date. Themes: Spooky Halloween (October) and Thanksgiving! Bring a blanket and yoga mat to the beautiful new Cordata pavilion. Pre-registration is required for all sessions.
