Family/Community SPRING/SUMMER PLAYBOOK 2024 | BELLINGHAM PARKS & RECREATION 16 Ikebana: The Art of Japanese Flower Arrangement Join us on the third Saturday of the month for a unique ikebana experience. Each ikebana workshop, or the practice of "making flowers come alive", is taught by Bellingham resident Noriko Sharik and supported by the Bellingham Sister Cities Association. Sharik is a certified instructor of Sensho Ikenobo School of ikebana, based in Kobe, Japan. Her weekly works of art are current- ly featured in the Bellingham City Hall. Ms. Sharik will teach one ikebana concept and two Japanese cultural concepts at each workshop as well as provide primary arrangement materials. Participants bring branches of natural material (i.e. ferns, sticks, or other greens), a basin or vessel of some kind (should be relatively flat and no smaller than 10" diameter, and a 3" metal or plastic flower arrangement "frog". Reset with a relaxing, somatic self-exploration and movement at an incredibly affordable price from a licensed therapist! We will use movement, meditation, and sound to explore our body's language of emotions. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket and yoga mat.
