The Bellingham Parks Volunteer Program
empowers our community to have the tools,
knowledge, and skills to care for, restore, and
protect Bellingham's parks, trails, and open

Get outside and give back this Spring and Summer at
one of our weekly volunteer work parties. We will restore
wildlife habitat by planting native shrubs and trees,
removing invasive species, picking up litter, and
maintaining trails. Joining us at our work parties is a
great opportunity to make new friends, learn new
skills, and (of course) have fun!
Tools, gloves, free Woods Coffee, and directions will be
provided. Work party participants should join us while
dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy shoes. Be
sure to bring a water bottle and snack!
All ages and abilities welcome. Pre-registration is

APRIL
6 – Samish Crest Trail
Join us as we improve trailside habitat within
the beautiful Samish Crest Open Space.
13 – Birchwood Park
Help us remove some invasive blackberries and
spread some mulch in Birchwood Park!
20 – Earth Day at Squalicum Creek
Celebrate Earth Day by restoring habitat at the
Squalicum Creek Re-route restoration project with
the City and friends!
27 – Big Rock Garden Park
Explore Bellingham's most peaceful park during our
bi-annual morning of sculpture cleaning and gardening
alongside the Friends of Big Rock Garden.
MAY
4 – Squalicum Creek Park – Willow Spring
Join us and NSEA as we steward our new native
plants at this impressive restoration site.
11 – Rock Hill Park
This hidden park in the York Neighborhood needs
some love. We'll be removing invasive vegetation
and beautifying the butterfly garden.
18 – Memorial Park
Join us and the Bellingham Rotary Club as we clean
up the memorials and park grounds in preparation
for Memorial Day!

JUNE
1 – Commemorative Whatcom Creek
Restoration Event
Join the City, Pipeline Safety Trust, and other
partners at Whatcom Falls Park to commemorate the
25th anniversary of the Olympic Pipeline explosion.
Together, we'll restore the creek and connect through
storytelling and stewardship.
8 – Parks Native Plant Nursery
Come help us prep our nursery for the summer! We'll be
weeding, mulching, and caring for our potted plants.
15 – Cordata Park
Support our stewardship efforts at one of Bellingham's
newest parks by removing invasive Himalayan
Blackberry and mulching near the Phase 2
construction at Cordata Park!
22 – Hundred Acre Wood
Help restore wildlife habitat and protect wetlands in this
lovely, forested park on the south side of Bellingham.
29 – Cornwall Rose Garden
Come help us care for this special rose garden during
peak bloom in the heart of the Cornwall neighborhood.
