cob.org/parks • (360) 778-7000 Family/Community Events 13 Ikebana: The Art of Japanese Flower Arrangement Each workshop on ikebana, or the practice of "making flowers come alive" is taught by Bellingham resident Noriko Sharik and supported by the Bellingham Sister Cities Association. Sharik is a certified instructor of Sensho Ikenobo School of ikebana, based in Kobe, Japan. Her weekly works of art can currently be seen in the main lobby of Bellingham City Hall. Ms. Sharik will teach one ikebana concept and two Japanese cultural concepts at each workshop as well as provide primary arrangement materials. Participants bring branches of natural material (i.e. ferns, sticks, or other greens), a basin or vase, and a 3" metal or plastic flower arrangement "frog". Additional details available online. Pre-registration is required. Boo at Bloedel & Sensory Friendly Boo This candy-free event is for children Preschool through 2nd grade! Wear your costumes, make crafts, and win prizes playing games at our booths. From 2:30-3:30 pm we will offer a Sensory Friendly experience. During this time, we will have a limited supply of headphones at the door for families to use while visiting the party. DAY/DATE: Saturday, Oct. 28 TIME: 2:30-5:00 pm AGES: 2nd grade and younger; 16 and younger for Sensory Friendly experience LOCATION: Bloedel Donovan Community Building COST: Free ($3 suggested donation) COORDINATOR: Rosa Caldwell Rec–tivities: Family Activity Kits Enjoy creating artful crafts and activities for the whole family from the comfort of your own home! Sign up for a seasonally themed kit containing supplies, instructions, interactive ideas and lots of inspiration for you to create fun projects and memories together. Kits will be available for pick up beginning the first Friday of each month. Please note: some simple household items may be required to complete all projects. Deadline to register: Wednesday prior to pick up date. Themes: Oct: Spooky Halloween; Nov: Thanksgiving!
