FALL PLAYBOOK 2023 | BELLINGHAM PARKS & RECREATION Family/Community Events 12 DAY/DATES: Tuesdays, Oct. 3, 10, 17 & 24 AGES / TIME: 4-6 years: 5:30-6:15 pm 7-13 years: 6:15-7:00 pm LOCATION: Fairhaven Library Auditorium, enter through rear door COST: $80 COORDINATOR: Lance Romo / Heather Richendrfer MIN: 2 / MAX: 15 Scottish Highland Dance Energetic and graceful, this performing art form of Scotland is often called the world's most sophisticated folk dance. Hundreds of years old, popular dances include the Highland Fling and Sword Dance which are featured at local Highland Games. Lively bagpipe music accompanies dancers while learning the intricate footwork in class. Participants should wear light clothing. Dance shoes are not required. Irish dance shows appeared on the world stage in the 1990's and the traditional soft and hard shoe dancing remains popular today. Lively music and fancy footwork get dancers' feet flying in no time. Participants should wear light clothing. Dance shoes are not required. Caring for the Caregivers We are teaming up with the Northwest Regional Council to offer this amazing free workshop! Are you checking in on someone routinely? Helping them get groceries? Reminding them to take medications? Doing housework, bathing them, or driving them to appointments or social gatherings? Then you are a caregiver! More than 1 in 5 Americans provide unpaid care to another person who has chronic illness, a disability, or functional limitations. Join us to learn more about what caregiving is, who caregivers are, how to maintain your health and well- ness, and available support and resources available to you here in Whatcom County and nearby. You are not alone — we are here to help! Please note: Additional activity may be available for loved ones in the nearby Pavilion while caregivers attend the workshop. Pre-registration required.
