The Bellingham Parks Volunteer Program
empowers our community to have the tools,
knowledge, and skills to care for, restore, and
protect Bellingham's parks, trails, and open

Volunteering with the Bellingham Parks Volunteer Program
is a wonderful way to get outside, give back, and help
improve the health of our parks and community. Join us
at one of our weekly events as we restore wildlife habitat,
improve open spaces, plant native shrubs and trees,
remove invasive species, and have fun!
We provide tools, gloves, and direction. Wear sturdy
shoes, and layers appropriate for the weather and bring
a water bottle and snack. We follow current safety
protocols; currently, masks are optional.
All ages and abilities welcome. Pre-registration is

15 – West Street Trail
Join Park Steward Bev as we care for this darling trail
near Squalicum Creek Park.
22 – Earth Day at Sehome Arboretum
Celebrate Earth Day with the City of Bellingham,
WWU's Learning Environment Action Discovery (LEAD),
Whatcom Million Trees Project,
and Washington Trails Association!
We'll be enhancing wildlife habitat.
29 – Big Rock Garden
Our bi-annual morning of sculpture cleaning and
gardening in this unique city park with Friends of
Big Rock Garden. Join us!
MAY
6 – Happy Valley Park
The salmon in Connelly Creek, which runs through this
lovely neighborhood park, need some help from our
friends at NSEA, who will be joining us here.
13 – Railroad Trail at Vining & View Ridge
Join Park Steward Richard in helping us remove invasive
Himalayan Blackberry to restore this beloved trail.
20 – Memorial Park
Join the Bellingham Rotary Club as we clean up the
memorials and grounds in preparation for Memorial Day.

JUNE
3 – Maritime Heritage Park
Come improve salmon habitat with us, NSEA & WNPS
in the heart of downtown Bellingham.
10 – Parks Native Plant Nursery
Come help us prep our nursery for the summer! We'll be
weeding, mulching, and caring for our potted plants.
17 – Rock Hill Park
This hidden park in the York Neighborhood needs some
love. We'll be removing Himalayan Blackberry and beau-
tifying the butterfly garden!
24 – Cornwall Rose Garden
Come help Park Steward Z care for this special rose
garden at the peak of bloom in the heart of the Cornwall
neighborhood.
