Facility Rental Info cob.org/parks • (360) 778-7000 39 Matt Hurst Park Technician – Grounds Matt joined Parks & Recreation as a grounds technician in February. He was most recently leading Washington Conservation Corps crews doing trail work for the Department of Natural Resources. He is originally from Flagstaff Arizona but has learned to love PNW winters after living in Bellingham for the past 5 years. Matt enjoys kayaking, gardening, and hiking. He is eager to jump into his new role making our city parks beautiful and safe. Nate Hauer Park Technician – Stewardship Nate has served on and led Washington Conservation Corps crews for the past three years in Northwest Washington. He is a graduate of Ohio State University and brings a diverse set of experience to habitat restoration and wetland mitigation efforts in our urban parks. He is dedicated to connecting communities to their natural world and continues to work toward making green space accessible to all. You may see him around town pulling weeds on the trail, planting trees, or hosting a Community Work Party. Sam Nelson Park Worker – Grounds Sam was born in Alaska and started her career with the City as a Park Ambassador the summer of 2024. Her early work experience was in greenhouses, and she has been trying to find her place through her love of being outdoors. She enjoys wandering through the woods, crafting with things she finds on the sides of roads, and lifting heavy objects. She is excited to continue her career in Parks!
