The past four months Park Operations staff members have been working hard to maintain all the parks, trails, and cemetery while making some improvements and repairs along the way. Our staff takes great pride and satisfaction in their work! Some of our most notable accomplishments include: • Improved access with new stairs to the Gazebo at Elizabeth Park. • Repaired and repaved 8,580 SF of cart paths at Lake Padden Golf Course. • Logged 3,876 volunteer hours from Saturday Work Parties, School Stewardship, Park Stewards, & Community Partner-led work parties. • Constructed new fencing along the Whatcom Creek Trail. • Completed paving and curbing repairs at several park locations. Re-striped parking lots and sports courts. • Replaced failing sewer line at Bloedel-Donovan Park. • Completed several miles of trail resurfacing. • Refinished several park benches throughout the system. • Replaced roof & HVAC system on Bayview Cemetery Mausoleum. • Completed electrical & waterline replacement at Elizabeth Park. • Removed multiple hazards trees in parks, along trails, and located within Parks open space properties. • Pruned several street trees in downtown Bellingham for clearance and health. • Worked with Bellingham Technical College students on their Capstone Project to design a wireless cell phone charger for Taylor Dock Pavilion. • Officially took over the operation and maintenance of Northern Lights Park in the Cordata Neighborhood. • Repaired and stabilized the boardwalk below the stairs at Dupont Bridge in Maritime Heritage Park. • Installed new split rail fencing and gate at Pazaski Open Space. cob.org/parks • (360) 778-7000 Park Highlights 25
