Family/Community SPRING/SUMMER PLAYBOOK 2025 | BELLINGHAM PARKS & RECREATION 28 COMMUNITY WORK PARTIES "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." – The Lorax, Dr. Seuss Get outside and give back this Spring and Summer at one of our volunteer work parties. We will restore wildlife habitat, maintain trails, pick up litter, plant native shrubs and trees, remove invasive species, make new friends, learn new skills, and (of course) have fun! We will provide tools, gloves, and instructions (and coffee generously donated by Woods) while following all current safety protocols. Please bring sturdy shoes, layers appropriate for the weather, water bottle, and snack. All ages and abilities welcome. Pre-registration is required. For more information and to register visit: volunteerbellingham.org/need 9 am to noon JUNE 7 – National Trails Day No City Parks work party — join a local trail stewardship event at: americanhiking.org/national-trails-day 14 – Whatcom Creek Support our urban creek and trail stewardship efforts by weeding and mulching near the Mayflower Bridge and WeGrow Garden! 21 – Roosevelt Nature Area Help us protect the wildlife habitat and wetlands in this peaceful nature area. 28 – Cornwall Rose Garden We'll weed and mulch (and stop to smell the roses!) during peak bloom! 9 am to noon 9 am to noon The Bellingham Parks Volunteer Program empowers our community to have the tools, knowledge and skills to care for, restore, and protect Bellingham's parks, trails and open spaces. APRIL 5 – Lower Padden Creek Trail Join us to protect Padden Creek by removing trailside invasive English Ivy. 12 – Samish Crest Trail Enhance the natural beauty of Samish Crest Open Space with us! 19 – Earth Day at Squalicum Creek Celebrate Earth Day by restoring habitat at the Squalicum Creek Re-route restoration project with the City and friends! F 26 – Lake Padden Open Space Help us care for this impressive, forested area by removing invasive plants and spreading mulch.B MAY 3 – Big Rock Garden Park Join us and the Friends of Big Rock Garden for some spring cleanup on National Garden Meditation Day! 10 – Cordata Park Team up with us and NSEA volunteers to weed and mulch near Bear Creek, enhancing this important riparian habitat. 17 – Memorial Park Join us and the Bellingham Rotary Club to clean up the memorials and park grounds for Memorial Day weekend! 31 – Rock Hill Park This hidden park in the York Neighborhood needs some love.
