Hosted by Gabriel's Art Kids, these hands-on workshops at Maritime Heritage Park Pavilion will provide all the materials and guidance you need to make costumes, masks, and parade props. Families and friends of all ages are welcome to join the fun and bring their artistic visions to life! Plus, we're teaming up with local arts organizations to make these workshops extra special. These craft days also coincide with the 2025 Children's Art Walk on May 2, making for a fantastic weekend of creativity and community spirit. DAY/DATES: Sunday / April 13 & 27 TIME: 1:00-4:00 pm AGES: All ages LOCATION: Maritime Heritage Park Pavilion COST: FREE COORDINATORS: Billy Reeves/Casey Alexander MAX: 25 at one time Procession of the Species Mark your calendars—Whatcom County's favorite celebration of art, nature, and community is back! Procession of the Species will bring color, creativity, and fun to downtown Bellingham with a lively parade. Families, friends, and neighbors are invited to dress as their favorite animals, create dazzling costumes, and join the fun. After the parade, enjoy live music, interactive performances, face painting, and hands-on art activities. DAY/DATES: Saturday / May 3 TIME: 2:00-5:00 pm AGES: All ages LOCATION: Parade begins in Lee Memorial Park (library lawn) and ends in Maritime Heritage Park COST: FREE COORDINATORS: Billy Reeves/Casey Alexander Travelogue Enjoy an armchair journey to spectacular and interesting destinations. No need to register – simply bring your own curiosity! Light refreshments served. Co-sponsored by the Whatcom Museum. DAY/DATE/DESTINATION: Thursday / April 17 "Hiking the Medieval Villages of Georgia and the Caucasus Mountains" by Ken Harrison TIME: 7:00-9:00 pm AGES: All ages LOCATION: Whatcom Museum – Old City Hall COST: FREE ($5 suggested donation) COORDINATOR: Billy Reeves Independent Contract INSTRUCTORS WANTED Do you have a special talent or skill you are interested in sharing? The City of Bellingham is dedicated to building a strong community through recreational and enrichment opportunities.
