Facility Rental Info SPRING/SUMMER PLAYBOOK 2025 | BELLINGHAM PARKS & RECREATION 40 PARK OPERATIONS UPDATE Happy Spring everyone! The Park Operations staff have been very active in our parks over the last few months despite the winter windstorms, snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. We have focused on routine maintenance, repairs, and making improvements to our turf, plants, trees, building/plumbing systems, and facilities in several parks. We are excited and getting prepared for the upcoming Summer. Our team is also growing, and we are looking forward to the completion of the Woburn Operations Center. Some of our notable accomplishments include: • Installed new gate at Boulevard Park • Completed repairs to HVAC system and refinished the marble floors in the Bayview Cemetery Mausoleum • Replaced the slide at the Fairhaven Park playground • Completed concrete repairs at Civic Skate Park • Installed new solar LED lighting at Sportsplex • Remodeled restrooms at Lake Padden Park Bath House • Completed maintenance of natural surface trails at Lake Padden Park with assistance from our Washington Conservation Corps crew. • Hired a Stewardship Coordinator to oversee and guide the growth of our Community Garden program and Wetland Mitigation program among other areas • Cleaned and polished floors in Picnic Shelters and Pavilions • Completed roof and gutter maintenance at several parks • Installed several new donation benches and trees throughout system • Repaired and updated lighting system on Acid Ball at Waypoint Park • Installed new fence and landscaping for Mothers Memorial section at Bayview Cemetery • Upgraded HVAC and electrical system at Bloedel Boat Rental Building • Facilitated 9 community work parties between December 2024-February 2025 which were attended by a total of 702 volunteers and resulted in 2,099 cumulative hours of parks stewardship • Installed new LED lighting at Lake Padden Golf Course and Civic Stadium • Installed new bench and bike rack at Little Squalicum Park Estuary • Relocated Kiosk and supported volunteer work party at Gossage Plaza • Completed drainage improvements to Sunnyland Park Playground • Potted 2,800 bare-root native plants for future restoration efforts • Completed restoration planting efforts on park property within the Post Point Heron Colony buffer zone Facility Rental Info Park Highlights SPRING/SUMMER PLAYBOOK 2025 | BELLINGHAM PARKS & RECREATION 40
