Scottish Highland Dance
Energetic and graceful, this performing art form of
Scotland is often called the world's most sophisticated
folk dance. Hundreds of years old, popular dances
include the Highland Fling and Sword Dance which
are featured at local Highland Games. Throughout the
classes lively bagpipe music accompanies dancers while
learning the intricate footwork. Highland dance has
evolved to become an elite competitive dance sport
around the world. Participants should wear light
clothing. Dance shoes are not required.
Irish Step Dance
Learn a jig or reel in this fun and energetic class. Irish
dance shows appeared on the world stage in the 1990's
and the traditional soft and hard shoe dancing maintains
popularity today. Lively music and fancy footwork get
dancers' feet flying in no time. Participants should wear
light clothing. Dance shoes are not required.
