Learn about some of the delicious native plants that birds in our region love to snack on. Then, bring that new knowledge home and start "birdscaping." What can you do for the birds? DAYS/DATES: Friday, October 8 or Sunday, October 17 TIME: 4:00 - 5:30 pm AGES: All LOCATION: Maritime Heritage Park COST: $10 per participant, per date COORDINATOR: Ryan Robie MIN: 5 / MAX: 15 Woodstock Farm Gore & Lore: Chuckanut Ghost Stories and Creepy Tales Join the Good Time Girls at Woodstock Farm and learn about some of the creepiest tales of the Chuckanut area. Beautiful during the day… but spooky at night! You'll hear about the spooks that may haunt the train tunnel and trestle, the old "Cowman's Cottage" as well as horrifying true crimes and unsolved mysteries. This tour is rated mature for potentially scary and violent themes. Question and answer session included. Dress for the weather and unlevel terrain, we will be indoors and outdoors! DAY/DATE: Wednesday, October 27 TIME: 6:30 - 8:00 pm AGES: 13 and older, rated PG13 (contains violent crime and themes of death) LOCATION: Woodstock Farm COST: $20 per participant COORDINATOR: Rosa Caldwell / Kolby LaBree MIN: 5 / MAX: 50 Our Sikh Neighbors: Introduction to Sikhs and Sikhi The Sikh Faith is the 5th largest religion on earth but few in the West know much about it. In this hour presentation a local Sikh university student, Rose Kular, will share basic information about Sikhs, the Sikh religion, and Sikhs in Whatcom County. Rose will answer these questions in this session: Where are Sikh's from? Why do Sikhs wear turbans? What are the basic beliefs and practices of the Sikh religion? How many Sikh Gurdwaras (temples) are there in Whatcom County? How can non-Sikhs experience Langar – vegetarian food made and served in Sikh community kitchens? This session will also have a Q&A.
