1 cob.org/recreation (360) 778-7000 parks@cob.org Fall back to fun It's that me of year where we reminiscence about a summer filled with warm days hanging out in the parks enjoying music and theatrical performances. Kids scampered about in summer camps. Sounds of laughter could be heard everywhere. The Park Operaons staff kept busy making sure all the parks, trails and facilies were ready to use and looking their best. We saw so many of you out there enjoying it all; yes, summer was great! As fall approaches, we are especially excited about recently securing an easement for permanent recreaonal use of Galbraith Mountain. We also celebrated the opening of Waypoint Park on the waterfront. In the coming months, the Design and Development Team will finish up the plans for the new community park in Cordata, which will break ground early next year. Over at Civic Stadium, the track has a brand new, bright surface and acvity connues as the north grandstand roof is replaced. As good as summer was, we are lucky in the Pacific Northwest to have an incredible fall season. Autumn colors emerge, the air is crisp and the rain we missed during the summer dry months returns, but the weather is sll good enough to be outdoors. Try your hand at pickleball on the newly resurfaced courts at Cornwall Park. As we get closer to Halloween join the dance party and learn the choreography to Michael Jackson's Thriller! If you want to surprise your winter holiday guests try the new holiday harp class where you will learn to play simple tradional carols. For those who have wandering souls, aend a Travelogue series. You can learn about Zambia, Copenhagen, Bhutan or stay local by exploring the "Wild Nooksack River." Look for more details in this edion of the Leisure Guide. As for me, I am challenging myself to ride my bike more and rediscover all the great artwork we have in our parks, including Big Rock Garden, Lee Memorial Park, and Cornwall. I hope you will join me!
