Fairhaven Park, opened in 1906 and designed by members of the world-famous Olmsted family of landscape architects, was once home to the tallest natural flagpole in the US! Unveiled on Flag Day in 1907, the pole was made out of a limbed red cedar that stood 177 feet tall until it was blown down during the 1962 Columbus Day Storm.
