11 ANOTHER GREAT PROGRAM! MAX HIGBEE CENTER Max Higbee Center provides community-based recrea on programs for teens and adults with developmental disabili es. All programs aim to create opportuni es for people to socialize, achieve greater independence and involvement in the community, improve health, explore new ac vi es, and find personal enjoyment and enrichment. COMMUNITY ACCESS PROGRAM (CAP) – This program supports people in community ou ngs to help par cipants achieve greater independence, learn and prac ce life skills like using the bus, and engage in ac vi es like cooking classes, gardening, going to the library, and visi ng museums. WHEN: Monday–Friday, 1:30–5:30 p.m. (3:30–5:30 p.m. for high school students arriving a er school) COST: $8 per program, financial aid is available WEEKEND DROP-IN PROGRAM – A flexible program designed for people to have a fun, safe and welcoming place to spend weekend evenings among friends and par cipa ng in ac vi es like mar al art classes, a ending theater performances, cra s, and karaoke. WHEN: Fridays & Saturdays, 5–9pm COST: $6/night or $30/month, financial aid is available HEALTHY LIFESTYES PROGRAM – This program supports people in building ac ve and healthy lifestyles through nutri on workshops, goal se ng, and exercise. Ac vi es include bowling, swimming, dancing, yoga, visi ng the YMCA, trail walks, and more! WHEN: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m. COST: $10/day, financial aid is available SKILL SHARE PROGRAM – A crea ve program that blends specialized, in-house ac vi es and community excursions, this program encourages life-long learning by allowing par cipants, staff, and community members to share their unique skills and talents with each other. WHEN: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays, 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m. COST: $10 per program, financial aid is available HIGBEE HIKERS – A seasonal, summer program that explores local trails on bus lines and teaches environmental stewardship, na ve plant and animal iden fica on, survival skills, and hiking goals and games. WHEN: Saturdays, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. COST: $15 per program, financial aid is available RECREATION MENTOR PROGRAM – This is an individualized, one-on-one program that offers an opportunity for people to create personalized recrea on goals and par cipate in ac vi es with full support from a Recrea on Leader. WHEN: Flexible scheduling COST: $15 per hour, financial aid is available Program registration begins Monday, January 8 at 8:30 a.m. DO YOU NEED ASSISTANCE OR ACCOMMODATION?
