4 summer 2017 leisure guide 360-778-7000 MOTHER'S DAY AT BIG ROCK GARDEN PARK The Friends of Big Rock Garden Park invite you to Celebrate Mother's day with the whole family. Enjoy this beautiful garden and its sculptures. Special events will include plein air artist painting, live music by Jud Sherwood Trio, cool jazz, and light refreshments. Park at Bloedel Donovan Park and take free shuttle to the event! Parking on site with disabled parking placard or tags. COST: Free LIEFGUARD INSTRUCTOR COURSE For those Lifeguards looking to get the next level of training, this course will cover the essential skills, techniques and information to train new Lifeguards. Requirements for this course include a current Lifeguard Certification, passing the precourse and completing the online precourse session. DAYS/DATES: Fri, June 2, 5:30–9pm, Sat-Sun, June 3–4, 8am–5:30pm AGES: 16 and older LOCATION: Arne Hanna Aquatic Center COST: $200 + $35 access fee due to the Red Cross for the online portion LIFEGUARD REVIEW COURSE Lifeguard certifications expire after two years. If yours is about to expire or has been expired for less than 30 days, sign up for this short, day-long course before you have to retake the entire 30 hour lifeguard course again. Must possess a current Lifeguarding certification. DAYS/DATES: Course #1: Sunday, June 4 Course #2: Sunday, July 16 TIME: 8am–5:30pm AGES: 15 and older LOCATION: Arne Hanna Aquatic Center COST: $100 LIFEGUARD TRAINING Looking for a job that doesn't leave you smelling like grease at the end of the day? If you're a reasonable swimmer and interested in being a first responder in emergencies, start your training today with the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course. Successful completion of this course will leave you with the smell of chlorine and certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Oxygen Administration and Bloodborne Pathogens.
