Activities including karaoke nights, cooking classes, community artwalks, theater outings, karate class, hobby corners, games, art projects, and more. 365 FITNESS PROGRAM When: Tuesdays / Thursdays, 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Where: Drop-off/Pick-up at 1210 Bay Street, Suite 102 Cost: $10/day What to Bring: Bus fare, lunch, additional fees or spending money as noted on calendars, comfortable attire for movement and fitness activities. Personal Coaching: Members may schedule times with MHC's certified personal trainer outside of program to work on individualized fitness goals. For more information, please call 360-201-9053 365 creates opportunities for members to lead healthier lives through nutrition education, increasing activity levels, goal oriented workouts, and introducing new and healthy recreation opportunities. Staff are trained to support members in participating according to their abilities and comfort levels. Much of this program is community based, filled with adaptive workouts including, yoga, rock climbing, trail walks, bowling, YMCA classes sports and more. DAYTIME PROGRAM When: Mondays / Wednesdays / Fridays, 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Where: Drop-off/Pick-up at 1210 Bay Street, Suite 102 Cost: $10/day What to Bring: Bus fare, lunch, additional fees or spending money as noted on calendars During Daytime Program, members can choose to participate in community outings or hang out at the Center for specialized in- house activities. Daytime Program focuses on exploring the artistic and creative side of recreation, including activities like pottery, card making, painting, music, personal expression projects, life skills workshops, cooking classes, gardening and more! YOUNG ADULT SELF-ADVOCACY The Arc's Young Adult Self Advocacy (YASA) group helps young adults with developmental disabilities become strong self-advocates. Self-advocates are people with disabilities who speak up for themselves and others. They can express themselves with ways unique to them. Self- advocacy enables people with disabilities to live a fulfilling life in the community with the support they need. YASA meetings are tailored to the specific needs and goals of its attendees. Meetings create a safe environment for learning and growth, and help participants identify and address their questions and concerns. Participants learn valuable communication and advocacy skills gaining tools and confidence needed to express personal needs and build healthy relationships. YASA members are also involved in planning and volunteering in community projects to help build relationships, practice skills in communication and advocacy, and increase awareness, respect and rights of individuals with disabilities. You do not need to have any special skills to join the group, just a desire to learn how to be your own best advocate. Come and try it out! Take this opportunity to express and discover what works for you in our group setting. Participants can attend the meeting independently or with caregivers – whatever works best for you! When and where are the meetings? YASA meets 10 months out of the year, typically on the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.–12 noon. How do I join YASA? If you are between the ages of 16 and 30 and an eligible client of the Developmental DisabilitiesAdministration (DDA), you are welcome (and encouraged!) to come to a meeting and join.
