cob.org/parks • (360) 778-7000 Sports/Fitness 21 STAFF SPOTLIGHT Cary Mapes Park Technician, Grounds Cary joined the Parks & Recreation Department in 2007 as part of the team at Bayview Cemetery. In 2025, he joined the Grounds team, first as a Park Worker, and then moving into a Park Technician position in 2026. Cary grew up in Bellingham and has lived in Whatcom County his entire life. He earned a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Western Washington University in 2005. He loves being part of the Parks team and contributing to the incredible park system Bellingham has to offer. He enjoys hiking, gardening, and jumping in the water every chance he gets during the summer. Open Track Night Civic Stadium is open select nights this fall with lights on and restrooms available. Grab a friend or two and get moving! We will see you there. No registration required. Join us for a jolly jog around beautiful Cordata and Julianna Park. Stick around afterwards for a costume contest, hot cocoa, and a few reindeer games. This family friendly event is a wonderful way to celebrate the spirit of the season. All participants will receive a Santa hat and automatically get placed on the Nice List. Ho, ho, hooray! Pre-registration required.
