COMMUNITY WORK PARTIES
"The land knows you, even when you are lost." – Robin Wall Kimmerer
Get outside and give back this fall at one of our weekly volunteer work parties. We will
restore wildlife habitat, maintain trails, pick up litter, plant native shrubs and trees, remove
invasive species, make new friends, learn new skills, and (of course) have fun! Tools, gloves, and directions are
provided. You wear sturdy shoes, layers appropriate for the weather, and bring a water bottle and snack.
All ages and abilities welcome. Pre-registration required. More info/registration: volunteerbellingham.org/need

SEPTEMBER
26 – Bay to Baker Trail (near Birchwood Park)
Join us and Recreation Northwest Trails Coalition as we
celebrate National Public Lands Day while stewarding
this amazing trail!
OCTOBER
3 – Whatcom Creek by City Hall
Volunteer with us and the Bellingham Kiwanis to restore
habitat and clean up this well-loved urban trail.
10 – Big Rock Garden Park
Join us and the Friends of Big Rock Garden Park as we
clean sculptures and tidy up this peaceful park.
17 – Cordata Park
Support riparian and meadow restoration efforts with us,
near East Bear Creek!
24 – Connelly Creek Nature Area (South)
Join us and NSEA as we restore habitat and protect
wetlands in this open space on the south side of Bellingham.
31 – Bay to Baker Trail (near Sunset Pond)
Make Halloween a Hallow-WIN by joining us and Recreation
Northwest Trails Coalition to steward this crucial corridor of
trail connectivity!

NOVEMBER
7 – Cornwall Memorial Park
Join Bellingham Parks and NSEA for our Make A
Difference Day & Arbor Day work party as we rehabilitate
this special forest by planting native trees and shrubs
near Squalicum Creek and the Disc Golf Course!
14 – Lowell Park
Help us restore this hidden gem near WWU! We'll remove
invasive weeds and plant pollinator-friendly native plants.
21 – Happy Valley Park
Connelly Creek, which runs through this neighborhood
park, needs our help! Continued restoration efforts will
improve riparian habitat.
DECEMBER
5 – Forest and Cedar Park
Help us continue our invasive removal, mulching, and
planting efforts at this neighborhood park near WWU!
12 – Whatcom Falls Park
Improve salmon habitat along Whatcom Creek with
Bellingham Parks and NSEA as we remove invasive
vegetation and replant with native trees and shrubs!
