STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Alena McCrea Park Worker, Trails
Alena joined the Parks Trails team in February of 2025 as a Maintenance Aide III and was
recently promoted to Park Worker. She previously worked for Whatcom County Parks in
the trails department and has volunteered for WTA on many trail projects. Alena's hobbies
are woodworking, traveling, sewing, reading, hiking and exploring new trails throughout
Whatcom County and beyond!

Spooktacular
We're partnering with
Gabriel's Art Kids to
bring you a thrill!
Witches, ghosts, and
ghouls abound at this
3-night Halloween
spectacular. Scream
yourself silly in the
haunted house, dance 'til you drop in the barn,
and witness the wickedness of the séance
room! It's a spookfest at Woodstock Farm
and there's only one way in and one way out.
Wear your spookiest attire and be ready for
family frights! For more info and tickets go

Whatcom County Dahlia
Society Show
Stop by Bloedel Donovan Park and explore the
spectacular world of dahlias. This annual event is truly a
delight for the senses! Growers will be onsite showcasing
the best of the best and share tips and tricks to growing
these delicate beauties too.

Boo at Bloedel &
Sensory Friendly Boo
This candy-free event is for children
preschool through 2nd grade! Wear
your costumes, make crafts, and win
prizes playing games at our booths.
From 1:30-2:30 pm we will offer a
Sensory Friendly experience. During
this time, we will have a limited
supply of headphones, gloves, and fidgets at the door for families to use while visiting Boo.
DAY/DATE: Saturday / October 17
TIME: 1:30–3:30 pm (Sensory Friendly 1:30–2:30 pm)
AGES: 2nd grade and younger with an adult
Sensory Friendly Hour: ages 16 & younger with an adult
