APRIL 1 – Cordata Park Support restoration efforts at this magnificent park along with the Whatcom Million Trees Project (WMTP). 8 – Arroyo Park Work alongside Chuckanut Creek with NSEA and the City to remove invasive species and reduce erosion into this salmon–bearing stream. 15 – West Street Trail Join Park Steward volunteer Bev as we care for this darling trail near Squalicum Creek Park. 10 am to 1 pm 9 am to noon The Bellingham Parks Volunteer Program empowers our community to have the tools, knowledge and skills to care for, restore, and protect Bellingham's parks, trails and open spaces. Visit cob.org/parkvolunteer COMMUNIT Y WORK PARTIES Volunteering with the Bellingham Parks Volunteer Program is a wonderful way to get outside, give back, and help improve the health of our parks and community. Join us at one of our weekly events as we restore wildlife habitat, improve open spaces, plant native shrubs and trees, remove invasive species, make new friends, get some exercise, and have fun! Wear sturdy shoes, and layers appropriate for the weather and bring a water bottle and snack. We follow all current safety protocols! All ages and abilities welcome. Pre–registration is required. For more information and to register visit: VolunteerBellingham.org Parks Volunteer Program JANUARY 14 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebrate Dr. King's legacy of service by helping at the Little Squalicum Estuary restoration project with the City, Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA), and many other community partners. 21 – 16th Street Trail Join us for a planting party at the secret 16th Street Trail with Park Steward volunteer Ray! 28 – East Meadow Park This fun little pocket of nature in the Samish neighborhood needs our help. Join us! FEBRUARY 4 – Fairhaven Park Remove invasive English Ivy and plant native trees and shrubs while stewarding Padden Creek with us. 11 – Northridge Park Join us as we work to beautify and restore this beloved and secluded park. 18 – Woodstock Farm Park Work with us and the Whatcom Million Trees Project (WMTP) to improve water quality and salmon habitat near Chuckanut Creek while enjoying views of the Salish Sea. 25 – Maritime Heritage Park Help improve salmon habitat with our friends at NSEA and the Washington Native Plants Society (WNPS) in the heart of downtown Bellingham.
