Family/Community WINTER PLAYBOOK 2023 | BELLINGHAM PARKS & RECREATION 12 Irish Step Dance Learn a jig or reel in this fun and energetic class. Irish dance shows appeared on the world stage in the 1990's and the traditional soft and hard shoe dancing maintains popularity today. Lively music and fancy footwork get dancers' feet flying in no time. Participants should wear light clothing. Dance shoes are not required. DAY/DATES: Session 1: Tuesday, January 17–February 7 Session 2: Tuesday, February 28–March 21 AGES/TIME: 4–6 years: 4:45–5:30 pm (Session 2 only) 7–12 years: 5:30–6:15 pm Teen/Adult: 7:00–7:45 pm LOCATION: Bloedel Donovan Community Building COST: $80 COORDINATORS: Lance Romo/Heather Richendrfer MIN: 2 / MAX: 15 Valentine's Day Party & Sensory–Friendly Party Celebrate the day of love with the ones you love! Families of 2nd graders and younger are invited to play and wear festive outfits, make crafts, and win prizes playing games at our booths. From 2:00–3:00 pm we will offer a Sensory Friendly experience. During this time, we will have a limited supply of headphones at the door for families to use while visiting the party. DAY/DATE: Saturday, February 11 TIME: 2:00–5:00 pm (Sensory Friendly 2:00–3:00 pm) AGES: 2nd grade and younger accompanied by adult LOCATION: Bloedel Donovan Community Building COST: Free ($3 suggested donation) COORDINATOR: Rosa Caldwell Scottish Highland Dance Energetic and graceful, this performing art form of Scotland is often called the world's most sophisticated folk dance. Hundreds of years old, popular dances include the Highland Fling and Sword Dance which are featured at local Highland Games. Throughout the classes lively bagpipe music accompanies dancers while learning the intricate footwork. Highland dance has evolved to become an elite competitive dance sport around the world. Participants should wear light clothing. Dance shoes are not required.
