FALL PLAYBOOK 2021 | BELLINGHAM PARKS & RECREATION Family/Community Events 14 COMMUNIT Y WORK PARTIES Get outside and give back this fall at one of our weekly events as we restore wildlife habitat, maintain trails, pick up litter, plant native shrubs and trees, remove invasive species, make new friends, learn new skills, and have fun! We provide tools, gloves, and direction. You wear your mask, sturdy shoes, and layers appropriate for the weather and bring a water bottle and snack. All ages and abilities welcome. Registration is required. For more information and to register visit: cob.org/parkvolunteer 9 am to noon 9 am to noon "We are called to assist the earth to heal her wounds, and in the process, heal our own." – Wangari Maathai 9 am to noon 9 am to noon NOVEMBER 6 – Connelly Creek Nature Area Help restore wildlife habitat in this lovely park on the south side of Bellingham. 13 – West Cemetery Creek Join us to plant hundreds of native ferns to improve water quality and fish habitat in the Salmon Woods. 20 –Maritime Heritage Park Come improve salmon habitat with the City and NSEA at this special restoration site in the heart of downtown. DECEMBER 4 – Squalicum Creek Re-Route The City and NSEA need your help to install hundreds of native plants at this huge restoration project. 11 – Harriet Spanel Park Join the York Neighborhood in removing weeds, planting, mulching and picking up litter to care for this awesome park. SEPTEMBER 18 – Whatcom Creek by City Hall Join the Bellingham Kiwanis as we work to restore salmon habitat and clean up this well-loved trail. 25 – Squalicum Creek Park Help enhance Willow Spring by caring for native plantings in this impressive restoration area. OCTOBER 2 – Big Rock Garden Park Come clean sculptures and help maintain the stunning grounds of Big Rock in this peaceful garden setting. 9 – Cornwall Park (North) In partnership with NSEA, we will be working along the creek in the north end of the park to remove invasive species. 16 – Sehome Arboretum The Arboretum has some issues with invasive English Ivy. Come help save this stately forest with us. 23 – Make A Difference Day Help restore salmon habitat with the City and NSEA by planting native trees and shrubs at Whatcom Falls Park! 30 – Juliana Park Julianna is one of Bellingham's newest parks. We'll be planting native plants and sprucing up the park.
