SPECIALIZED RECREATION
SERVICES
Bellingham Parks and Recrea on is commi ed to providing
quality recrea on opportuni es for all members of our
community. We recognize that making our services accessible to
people with disabili es helps build a posi ve community. We
strive to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabili es
Act as well as foster posi ve rela onships between all our
par cipants.
Specialized Recrea on services include:
• Programs designed for individuals who have a disability
• Inclusion support for individuals with disabili es wishing to
par cipate in programs offered by Bellingham Parks and
Recrea on
• Liaison to community groups serving individuals with
disabili es
The programs listed in this sec on are designed for
individuals who have a disability. They offer opportuni es for
individuals to develop a skill or have opportuni es for
socializa on.
Inclusion support services include arranging for requested
accommoda on or adapta on to facilitate successful
par cipa on in general programming offered by Bellingham
Parks and Recrea on. Par cipants will be asked if they require
assistance or accommoda on at the me of registra on.
Recrea on staff will then contact par cipants and/or parent/
advocate to arrange necessary support when indicated. For more

SPIN DANCES
Bellingham Parks and Recrea on, along with the Max Higbee
Center and Whatcom County Parks, have planned fun dances for
individuals with disabili es. All persons age 14 and over are
invited for live music, dancing and loads of fun! Music by
Evergreen Entertainment.
DAYS/DATES: March 18 ("St. Patrick's Day"), April 15
("Crazy Hat Night"), May 20 ("80's Night")
AGES: 14 and older
TIME: 6–8 p.m.

MULTI-MEDIA ART
For Adults 18 & Older with Developmental Disabili es
This class will explore the use of a variety of materials, such as
watercolors, acrylics, colored pencils and inks. Par cipants will have the
opportunity to engage in ac vi es such as printmaking, crea ng a
collage, designing note cards and pain ng. Crea ve enrichment,
individual choices and enjoyment will be emphasized.
Minimum must be met one week prior to first class.
Registra on opens on March 4.
