We recognize that making our services accessible to people with disabili es helps build a posi ve community. We strive to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabili es Act as well as foster posi ve rela onships between all our par cipants. Specialized Recrea on services include: • Programs designed for individuals who have a disability • Inclusion support for individuals with disabili es wishing to par cipate in programs offered by Bellingham Parks and Recrea on • Liaison to community groups serving individuals with disabili es The programs listed in this sec on are designed for individuals who have a disability. They offer opportuni es for individuals to develop a skill or have opportuni es for socializa on. Inclusion support services include arranging for requested accommoda on or adapta on to facilitate successful par cipa on in general programming offered by Bellingham Parks and Recrea on. Par cipants will be asked if they require assistance or accommoda on at the me of registra on. Recrea on staff will then contact par cipants and/or parent/advocate to arrange necessary support when indicated. For more ques ons regarding Specialized Recrea on services, please contact our office at (360) 778-7000 or parks@cob.org SPIN DANCES Bellingham Parks and Recrea on, along with the Max Higbee Center and Whatcom County Parks have planned four dances for individuals with disabili es. All persons age 14 and over are invited for live music, dancing and loads of fun! Music by Evergreen Entertainment. DAYS/DATES: January 21 (Masquerade Ball), February 18 (Valen ne's Day), March 18 (St Paddy's Day), April 15 (Crazy Hat Night) AGES: 14 and older TIME: 6-8 pm LOCATION: Bellingham Senior Center, 315 Halleck Street COST: A bag of pre-packaged graham crackers COORDINATOR: Amanda Grove ADAPTED AQUATICS A me for individuals with special needs to get in the water and work one-on-one with a volunteer for 45 minutes followed by 15 minutes in the hydrotherapy pool. Volunteers will be working with par cipants toward increasing swim skills, flexibility, exercising and, most importantly, having fun. Register at cob.org/ezreg.
